Larva Labs Art Blocks Auction Surpasses $30,000
What’s Cooking?
Gather ’round, folks! The digital art world just got a whole lot spicier with the launch of a brand-new collection by the fabulous Larva Labs. These are the creative geniuses behind the legendary Cryptopunks, Autoglyphs, and Meebits. Their latest masterpiece, dubbed ‘Quine’, is making waves and wallets go woosh!
Let the Bidding Wars Begin!
So here’s the scoop: Quine is a dazzling collection with a whopping 477 pieces strutting their stuff in an auction for everyone to feast their eyes on! The unique twist? The auction has this wild bid system where the lowest winning bid is what everyone pays. Imagine everyone at a potluck and you can take the last slice of pizza, but you all pay for the first slice. That’s kind of what’s happening here!
As the clock ticked down, the opening bid started low at just 0.3 ETH (that’s about $1,250). But hold on to your hats, because by noon EST on October 10, this baby was selling for a jaw-dropping 7.56 ETH, which is around $31,000 per Quine NFT! Talk about a dramatic price hike!
A New Chapter for Larva Labs
Now, let’s take a moment to appreciate this milestone. Quine is Larva Labs’ first unique generative art collection since their classics like Autoglyphs. And speaking of Autoglyphs, those are currently strutting around with a stunning floor price of 84 ETH ($344,000). That’s some serious digital bling!
About 20 minutes after the auction wrapped up, the trading kicked off. The first two pieces were snapped up for 8.9 ETH ($36,490) and 9.45 ETH ($38,750)—definitely not pocket change, but hey, who’s counting when you’re adding uniqueness to your digital collection?
Thank You, Larva Labs!
Before this glorious launch, our hero and Art Blocks founder, Erick Snowfro, took to X (the quirky bird app) to give a shout-out to the folks at Larva Labs. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “These guys launched punks and created that magical ‘aha’ moment that clicked for so many of us. They’ve gobbled up our lives every. single. day. since.”
He finished off with a heartfelt sentiment, “It’s hard to imagine what this place would be like without them. I can’t think of anyone else I’d be more honored to close out Art Blocks Curated than them.” 🌟 Ain’t that sweet?
